Tooth Preparation

• Clean and isolate the tooth.
• Prepare the cavity by removing caries and shaping it appropriately.
• Etch, rinse, and apply bonding agent if using composite.

Placing the Mylar Strip

• Select the correct size and thickness of the strip.
• Place the strip around the tooth, hugging the contour of the tooth.
• Ensure it extends beyond the gingival margin to prevent overhangs.

Secure it by:

• Holding it firmly with fingersUsing a wedge between teeth to stabilize and provide a tight seal

Composite Placement & Shaping

• Apply incremental layers of composite material inside the cavity.
• Use a plastic or Teflon-coated instrument to shape the material.

Light Curing

• Since Mylar is transparent, it allows effective light penetration for polymerization.
• Cure from multiple angles to ensure complete setting.

Removing the Mylar Strip

• Gently remove the strip by pulling it buccolingually or incisally to avoid damaging the restoration.
• Remove any excess material and check for proper contact points.

Finishing & Polishing

• Use fine burs or polishing strips to refine the shape.
• Check occlusion and adjust if necessary
