Polycarboxylate Cement is a dual-component dental product consisting of a powder and a liquid. The powder contains zinc oxide, magnesium oxide, strontium chloride, and tannic acid, while the liquid component is polyacrylic acid.

This cement is ideal for the cementation of crowns, bridges, inlays, and orthodontic brackets, and serves as an effective cavity lining under all restorative materials. It can also be used for temporary fillings, such as direct or indirect pulp-capping, with minimal pulp irritation, even on freshly cut dentine.

It boasts a shelf life of two years from the date of manufacture, ensuring reliable and consistent performance in dental applications.

  • Category: Dental Cements

  • 1 x 30 gm powder
  • 1 x 15ml liquid
  • 1 x spoon
  • 1x Mixing pad

  • Preparation: Ensure all tools and surfaces are clean and dry before use. Dispense the powder and liquid in the recommended ratio (usually provided on the product label or insert).

  • Mixing: Place the appropriate amount of powder onto the mixing pad.

    • Using the spoon, create a small depression in the powder.
    • Dispense the liquid into the depression.
    • Using the mixing spatula, gradually incorporate the powder into the liquid. Mix thoroughly to achieve a smooth, homogenous consistency.
  • Application: For cementation: Apply the mixed cement to the fitting surface of the restoration (crown, bridge, inlay, or orthodontic bracket) and seat it immediately.

    • For cavity lining: Apply a thin layer of cement to the prepared cavity floor.
    • For temporary fillings and pulp-capping: Place the mixed cement into the cavity, ensuring it covers the exposed dentine.
  • Setting: Allow the cement to set undisturbed. The setting time will vary depending on the product specifications.

    • Check for proper adhesion and remove any excess cement from the margins.
  • Aftercare: Instruct the patient to avoid excessive pressure on the treated area until the cement has fully set.

    • Schedule follow-up appointments as necessary to monitor the integrity of the restoration.
