Oracraft Blumenthal Bone Rongeurs A bone rongeur is used after extraction and oral maxillofacial surgery to remove bony fragments or soft tissues. Rongeurs are surgical instruments used to trim, contour, and remove bone after teeth extractions. Rongeurs have a spring mechanism between the handles and a sharpened working end. A rongeur is a heavy-duty instrument with a sharp-edged scoop-shaped tip, used for gouging to the bone. It can be used to open a window in bone, in order to access underneath tissues.
