Tor Vm Saddle Contoured Metal Matrices are used to restore the shape and contour of a tooth. They are thin, flexible metal strips that are contoured to fit the shape of the tooth and create a temporary wall to hold restorative materials in place while they set.

Saddle contoured metal matrices are often used in dental procedures such as fillings and crowns to help shape and form the restorative material to the correct shape of the tooth. They are typically made of stainless steel or other metal alloys that are both strong and flexible enough to contour to the tooth. These matrices are designed to be placed around the tooth to create a temporary wall that holds the restorative material in place while it sets.

This helps to ensure that the restoration is the correct shape and size, and that it is firmly attached to the tooth. The edges of saddle matrices are performed as cylinder-shape tubes where tines of spring clip or clamp are inserted upon matrix installation.

USED IN FOLLOWING CASES:

  • In Class II restorations
  • In deep cavities involving more than 2 surfaces

  • 3 Length Matrices (Small, Medium & Large)

  1. Preparation:

    • Ensure that the tooth to be restored is properly isolated and cleaned. Use rubber dam isolation if necessary.
    • The cavity preparation should be completed, with the margins well defined and free of debris.
  2. Matrix Selection:

    • Choose the appropriately sized Tor VM Saddle Contoured Matrix to match the anatomy of the tooth you are restoring. These matrices come in different sizes and contours, so pick one that fits snugly around the tooth and covers the prepared cavity.
  3. Placement:

    • Place the matrix band around the tooth, ensuring that it is positioned around the cervical margin and extends to cover the prepared portion of the tooth. The saddle shape should align with the natural contour of the tooth.
    • Ensure the matrix is snug, but not overly tight, to avoid distortion during the restoration process.
  4. Securing the Matrix:

    • Use a matrix holder or retainer to secure the matrix in place. This ensures that the matrix stays properly aligned while you are placing the filling material.
    • If necessary, use a wedge to ensure the matrix stays securely in position, especially in the interproximal areas, to prevent leakage of restorative material.
  5. Restoration Placement:

    • Once the matrix is in place, proceed with placing the restorative material (such as composite resin or amalgam) into the cavity.
    • Carefully sculpt the restorative material to match the natural contours of the tooth. Use layering techniques if needed to ensure optimal adaptation and curing.
  6. Finishing and Polishing:

    • After the restoration has set or cured, remove the matrix gently.
    • Check the contact points and the occlusion to ensure that the restoration is well-contoured and does not interfere with the patient's bite.
    • Finish and polish the restoration for a smooth, functional surface.
  7. Post-Treatment Care:

    • After completing the restoration, provide the patient with post-treatment instructions, particularly on how to care for the newly restored tooth.
