Preparation:

• Ensure that you have selected the appropriate reamer size and length for the specific tooth and root canal.
• Sterilize the reamer according to standard dental sterilization protocols.

Access Opening:

• Create an access opening through the tooth's crown to reach the pulp chamber and root canals.

Initial Exploration:

• Use smaller endodontic instruments like files and explorers to initially explore the root canals, determine their length, and assess their shape.

Shaping with Reamers:

• Start with the smallest reamer in your kit.
• Gently insert the reamer into the canal while using vertical reciprocation or lifting movements.
• Pay close attention to the tactile feedback to detect changes in resistance, canal curvature, and irregularities.
• Slowly advance the reamer deeper into the canal while periodically withdrawing it to remove debris.

Irrigation and Cleaning:

• Regularly irrigate the canal with a disinfectant solution to flush out debris and disinfect the area.
• Continue to use reamers of increasing size to gradually shape the canal to the desired form.
• Ensure that you maintain a smooth and uniform canal shape.

Measuring and Sizing:

• Use specialized instruments and X-rays to measure the length and size of the canal accurately.
• Confirm that the canal has been cleaned and shaped properly and that the entire length has been reached.

Final Filling:

• Once cleaning and shaping are complete, the root canal is typically filled with gutta-percha, and a sealer is used to seal the space. This prevents reinfection and restores the tooth's integrity.

Radiographs (X-rays):

• Take post-operative X-rays to confirm the successful filling of the root canal and assess the quality of the treatment.

Restoration:

• Complete the tooth's restoration, which may involve placing a dental crown or other restorative materials to protect and strengthen the treated tooth.
