Septodont Septanest 4% Articaine with 1:100,000 Epinephrine is a pharmaceutical product used for local or locoregional anesthesia in dental surgery. It is a solution for injection containing Articaine hydrochloride (68.000 mg) and Epinephrine tartrate (0.030 mg), which corresponds to 0.017 mg of adrenaline base.

The solution is provided in 1.7 ml cartridges.In addition to the active ingredients, the solution contains excipients including sodium chloride, sodium disulphite, sodium edetate, sodium hydroxide solution, and water for injectable preparations.

These excipients help to stabilize the solution and maintain its sterility.  Septanest 4% Articaine with 1:100,000 Epinephrine is recommended for use in adults and children over 4 years of age for local or locoregional anesthesia in dental surgery.

  • Ensure that the cartridge and packaging are intact and not damaged before use. Discard any damaged or expired cartridges.
  • Select the appropriate needle and syringe for injection, ensuring that they are sterile and compatible with the cartridge.
  • Prepare the injection site by following proper aseptic techniques. Clean the site with an appropriate antiseptic solution.
  • Remove the protective cap from the cartridge, and attach the needle firmly to the syringe.
  • Aspirate and expel a small amount of solution to remove any air bubbles from the syringe.
  • Slowly and carefully insert the needle into the desired injection site, ensuring proper placement.
  • Aspirate again to ensure the needle is not in a blood vessel. If blood appears, remove the needle and select a new injection site.
  • Inject the solution slowly and steadily, taking caution not to exceed the recommended dose.
  • During the injection, maintain verbal contact with the patient to monitor their comfort and response.
  • After injection, remove the needle from the injection site and apply appropriate pressure or dressing if needed.
  • Properly dispose of used needles, cartridges, and other materials according to local regulations and guidelines.
  • Monitor the patient closely following administration, paying attention to their vital signs, potential side effects, and any adverse reactions.
